About

I graduated in sociology at Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest, Hungary. I chose this institution because of its specialisation in ‘sociology of education’ as it had been my main aspiration to do educational research.

After graduating in 2009 I worked for the Hungarian Institute for Educational Research & Development as a junior research assistant. The three projects our team was concluding were dealing mainly with vocational education in Hungary.

I started my PhD at the Univeristy of Birmingham in 2010. The research aims to analyse and compare national research programmes across Europe that are gathering information on school leavers’ path after compulsory education. The description and comparison will refer to methodological, financial and institutional details as well as the dissemination process and the utilization of the surveys.
School leavers’ surveys, research programmes which are surveying the students leaving school or graduating, can help to explore the mechanisms of knowledge societies and bring important and relevant information on the processes of lifelong learning. Due to the existing methodological differences in school leavers surveys currently there are limited numbers of comparative and international studies in this area. Via comparing them and pointing out the main similarities and differences the investigation aims to reach a European ‘best practice’ for these types of surveys.
