MATLAB Installation Guide for Economic/Financial Users∗
Xiaoyu Tian† 10 April 2010
Nowadays very few of geniuses can be an economist dealing with Computational Finance as well as a physicist specialising in Signal Processing in the meantime (Aristotle, Newton, da Vinci and Goethe were almighty but they did not use computers!). So the important hint here is it is fairly UNNECESSARY to install everything, dress to the figure! The general guide for Economic/Financial user is to install the following packages in MATLAB, • MATLAB Distributed Computing Server • MATLAB • Simulink • Curve Fitting Toolbox • Data Acquisition Toolbox • Database Toolbox • Datafeed Toolbox • Econometrics Toolbox • Financial Derivatives Toolbox • Financial Toolbox • Fixed-Income Toolbox • Fixed-Point Toolbox • Global Optimization Toolbox
